Drowning ( poem)

Sailing on torrid ocean,

I think I’m drowning,

Am I drowning?

I’m floating yet

With water in my lungs,

It sits there.

I fear drowning,

But more I fear not drowning

Whilst those around me

Scream in pain,

A lie –

Aren’t we all selfish?

I fear less that

If I were more fearless

I’d be reckless –

and crawl

Beneath the waves

For meaning –

For I’d drown

Now,

Regardless.
